some reviews below refer to "Thinking Adventures"Nov 10, 2003
Note: Some of the reviews here (the 3-star one entitled "very easily bored with it" for instance) refer to a different product--"Clifford's Thinking Adventures".The Phonics title is a completely different game, released in July 2003. If the review says at the end "refers to an ALTERNATE VERSION" check the link--might be a review for the other game.

A great introduction to computersNov 09, 2004
By Cristin D. Kersten My four-year-old daughter was not interested in using the computer at preschool so we bought this at the school's book fair. Well, now she is VERY interested in the computer. She too has spent countless hours playing this game. It was very simple for her to master her way around without little help from myself. It is not only a fun game but also a game that teaches word and picture recognition. I would highly recommend this software to other parents; in fact, I am going to put some more Clifford titles on her Christmas list!

Trick your kids into learningApr 27, 2006
By K. G. Berliner This game was purchased for a young girl aged 4 years 8 mo. She had very little computer experience, and a little phonic work in Pre-K. This game was right up her alley. Some of the tasks were easy, giving her a sense of mastery, but the difficulty level increases nice and slow and she didn't even realize. They mix in fun non-learning activities as a reward (decorating the float). As a result, her reading skills have significantly improved in the past month and so have her computer mousing skills. Haven't found a good typing game for a 4 year old yet, that's next.

My daughter loves this software game!Dec 08, 2005
By C. Nauroth My daughter just turned 3 years old in October and she loves this game. It's very educational and fun at the same time. She was able to navigate through the carnival games right from the start so it's very user friendly. While she's known all her capital letters and the sounds each letter makes for some time now, she's learning to recognize the lower case letters and to spell 3 and 4 letter words from using this game. She's only had it for a few days but I can already see she's learning a lot from playing with it. I highly recommend this one for it's educational value.

for the most resistant readerMay 05, 2004
My 4.5 yr old son would much rather play nintendo than try to learn phonics, thanks to the influence of two older sibs. He received this game yesterday and already has spent countless hours on it playing the games and inadvertantly learning phonics. This game uses letter groupings as well as phonics, which is the method my other kids used with great success. This game definately requires parent participation in the early stages, but it's been fun watching him become more and more independant in his reading skills even though he is not aware of it. Only complaint is that the reward system is limited, so beware if your child is reward-oriented.
