5OverachieverJul 14, 2010
By Don
After looking at the star ratings and comments for various CD players online, and finding most nothing to brag about, I wandered down to a local store and bought the RCA model RP3013 because it was good looking, had great controls, was cheap enough, and it was an RCA. I also liked having an FM tuner. It comes with earbuds, but I just plugged in a set of my Sennheisers....I'm a traditionalist.

After using it for a week, I am more than happy with my choice.

First, the LCD is on top and easy to read. The buttons for play/pause, stop/off, eq, program, forward and back are also on top of the unit in the form of individual buttons in a semi-circle, very straightforward. Two AA's inside, under a cover....easy to install, unless you have sausage links for fingers. Sound is fine, but not the same as you'd expect from your iPod. Better than I expected however, and yes, I also own a large capacity iPod. The FM radio brings in my stations quite well, with an ST indicator to hone in on the best frequency.

Only negative, it has a wheel for volume, and another wheel for radio station selection, although the selected station is visible in the LCD window. I would have preferred electronic volume and tuning buttons. Kind of a surprising omission, but I can live with it. Just not crazy about wheels. Kind of 80's technology.

Anyhow, overall, very intuitive controls, good sound, decent battery life, a good purchase.

5Quality & Looks GreatOct 02, 2010
By D. Mitchelle
I am so happy with this CD player/radio! My Sony finally bit the dust and I decided to try another brand. This RCA is simple to use, even the compartment for battery replacement is easy to find. I use this when I go on walks and have had no problems with radio reception. The quality of CD sound is really good. I bought one for my Mom.

5An excellent portable CD playerSep 27, 2010
By Mary K.
This CD player was a very pleasant surprise. Most of the experiences with portable CD players have not been good. This player is easy to operate the sound is very good and FM radio is clear. An excellent purchase for the money.

3Great if you don't need resume featureNov 25, 2010
By GaryS
Unless I am doing something wrong, there does not seem to be a resume play mode on this player. Yes you can "pause" the play and restart at the same point on the CD, but if the player is left on pause the batteries are still in use and will wear down. If the player is stopped, then there is no way to resume play from the place where the cd was stopped except to use the fast forward feature which is inconvenient. I just assumed there would be a resume feature on this product and would not have purchased it if I had realized there was no resume feature. Other than that, it is a very nice player for the money. The resume feature is important to me because I mostly use the player with audio books. If I am wrong about there not being a resume feature, would someone please advise me how it works?

5Great little player!Oct 30, 2010
By charbee
After reading all the negatives about the current Sony models, decided to try this one. I'll chime in with "five stars" for this thing, as well! Reasonably priced, easy to use, sounds great. The main controls are mounted on the top, buttons well marked and easy to understand. Decent instructions (download the user guide above!) We'll see about "durability" over the next few months, but a big plus is a ONE YEAR warrantee, as opposed to the 3-months from Sony. One thing not mentioned in the specs here for the thing is whether or not it plays CD-R discs, and thankfully it plays them fine. The radio portion is very sensitive and pulls in tons of stations. The earphones (as is usual with ANY cheaper player) are nothing to write home about, but any decent set of phones sounds great. Hasn't really "skipped" with reasonably careful handling. Also sounds fantastic plugged into the "auxiliary" input of our vintage tube radio! For $25, it's an excellent buy. Hopefully it will last!
