Will not charge in new Canon S95 chargerSep 03, 2011
By Damon J. Loomis

I purchased a new Canon Powershot S95 this week and ordered the above battery as a 2nd battery for the camera. The description indicated that it is a replacement battery for the Canon NB-6L. When it arrived the packaging also stated that it was a replacement for the NB-6L & that it was for use in various PowerShot cameras, including the S95. I placed the battery in the Canon charger that came with the S95 & when I plugged it in, the charging light came on. However, the light only stayed on for 2 or 3 seconds. I made sure the battery contacts were properly aligned but the charging light still wouldn't stay on. I thought maybe it was charging anyway so I left it in the charger for over 2 hours. I took it out of the charger & put it in the camera & tried to turn it on. It wouldn't turn on at all. The Canon battery that came with the camera charges properly & works fine.
Today I happened to talk to a friend that had recently purchased a non-brand Canon battery. He couldn't get it to charge either. He called Canon & was told that they've had a design change so that some of these off-brand batteries will not charge or work in the Canon cameras. I don't know what Canon cameras this applies to, or when the change was made. However, this I know, this battery does not work in my new Powershot S95.

Canon Replacement BatteryAug 29, 2010
By Kaham This battery seems to work as well as the real Canon battery. Amazon had it for the cheapest price I could find.

Great batteryJun 16, 2010
By Michael E. Kelly This battery works great and provides a perfect spare to keep with your camera. I cannot tell any difference between this one and the original Canon battery that comes with the camera. Buy it. You will be glad you did.

If you think this will work in your Canon charger - think again.Nov 28, 2011
By E. J. Evans This "replacement" battery will not charge in the Canon NB-6L charger. The charge light comes on for about 2 sec. and then turns off. Thinking that maybe it was still charging - I left it in the charger overnight. Nothing. If you take the battery out and reinsert it - the charging light comes on for about 2 sec. and then goes out again. The charger works fine with the original NB-6L battery - so it isn't the charger. So instead of a back-up battery - I have nothing. Don't waste your money on this!

Essential to have when on a trip - charges well, and lasts just as well as the original.
