Classy, simple charger fits & matches my black Wiimotes perfectlyAug 01, 2010
By C. Duong I just bought a Wii and wanted to avoid the cost of non-rechargeable batteries. I also wanted to avoid the hassle of having to remove the Wiimote from its sleeve (kind of a pain with the MotionPlus in place) every time I needed to change or recharge batteries. My friend has the white version of this charger and highly recommended it to me.
However, one review for the white induction charger cautioned against using the white charger for the black Wiimote sleeves because the charger doesn't work with the black sleeves. There is a solution in the comments that requires cutting the sleeves but I would rather not have to cut a hole in the sleeves. Plus, the white charger didn't match my black Wiimotes :) I saw this newly released charger and took a chance... thankfully, they DO fit my black Wiimotes (+ MotionPlus) with the sleeve on! I love the convenience of not having to remove anything at all when charging. All I have to do is drop the Wiimote in the slot and magnets keep the Wiimote in place.
The charge station is powered by a small AC adapter and sports a power button so you can turn the entire charger off when the Wiimotes are fully charged (and save electricity), which is indicated by a white light. The light is red when the Wiimotes are charging. I keep the charger in the living room so the lights aren't a problem, but I can imagine the lights being an annoyance if the station were in a bedroom.
I can't comment too much on battery pack life or charge time since I only play for an hour or two at a time and then charge the Wiimotes immediately, but they seem to charge up pretty quickly. Since I only recently got the charger, I also can't comment too much on the longevity of the battery pack - from other reviews, there seems to be some issues with the ones that come with the white charger, i.e. they only last 3-4 months.
Last thing is the red sync button in the back of the remote when you remove the battery cover. This is used to synchronize remotes to the Wii, but requires that the batteries be inside. That the battery pack is attached to the cover presents a bit of a challenge. Nyko designed a hole at the back of the battery cover and ships a blue toothpick-like piece of plastic with your charger so you can still press the button, so don't throw it away!

Nyko Does It Again. A Must Have.Dec 08, 2010
By J. Figueroa As always, Nyko designs a winner. The base will charge two Wii remotes (also Wiimote Plus) at the same time, with or without the the rubber jackets. Some people here have complaint about the rubber jackets getting in the way or increasing the amount of time the remotes take to re-charge, but I didn't notice any difference in charging times at all, and if there is, it must bet minimal, because my remotes charged in no time and the jacket did not get in the way. The charging station uses magnetism to charge the batteries. You simply install the included batteries on your Wii remote, plug the charging station to an available AC plug, turn it on and place the remotes on it, no plug-ins on the back of the remotes to match with the charge base, no listening for clicking sounds, nothing, simply lay down the Wii remotes on the docks and the rest is history. The remotes do not fall or tip over, because the charge station comes with extra strong sticky-like pads/feet that get a good grip of anything you put then on. These sticky feet/pads however, are good and bad at the same time; good because they are strong and will hold the weight, but also bad, because they are too strong and will rip off if you're not careful when you move the charge station to a diff. location. I ripped one of them in half the other day.
The charging station docks will light up red as the remotes charge, once they're fully charged, it lights up white. Both can be very bright, the white more than the red, but thanks to Nykos clever design, the charging station has a power button between the charging docks, so after your remotes are full, turn the station off, that way the light won't bug you and you won't waste electricity with LED lights.
Besides the charging docks, the station has an extra USB-based charging port in the back, at the bottom, that can be used at any time the station is on with or without the Wii remotes charging simultaneously, this is extremely convenient to charge MP3 players, cellphones, or like I did, to charge my wireless xbox360 headset.
This is a must have for any Wii owner. A beautiful and extremly useful design. Bravo Nyko. Bravo.
PROS Everything I've mentioned above
CONS The sticky pads. But then again, I wasn't very careful when I move the station. Plus, some two sided tape solved my problem. I didn't need the tape though, the remaining pads were still strong enough.

Wii Charge base IC BlackAug 25, 2010
By Heather Cady This has worked great for charging, but we have found that our remotes actually don't stay in the charger with the silicon covers on. They repeatedly slide out. We don't really care about having the covers on though, so we just took them off and it charges well and easily. Very handy.

Excellent - Best Wii Remote Charger I Have FoundDec 15, 2010
By Derek Williams After using this charger for about a month, I can give it a very high recommendation. As advertised, it can be used with or without the Wii Remote Skins on, with or without the Wii Motion Plus attached, and with or without the nunchuks remaining attached. This makes it extremely convenient. The battery packs have lasted me through 2 or 3 hour play sessions - I have yet to run out of juice in the middle of playing. The unit also looks very nice - solid black with red and white lighting - and is very simple to use.
I have read review that say the magnets are not strong enough to hold it in place. I can safely say this is not normally the case. Only once or twice have I had any trouble with the magnets at all, and once I figured out exactly where in the cradle the remotes sit, they have worked beautifully (with and without the skin on)
The only other complaint I have is the high-pitched noise. Like most induction chargers, as I have found in online reading since I received this product, whenever the charger is on but not charging anything it emits a quiet, very high-pitched noise. For me, who is 18, this noise is irritating enough to want to turn off when it is not charging, and then just turn back when I put the remote/remotes back in after a play session. The noise is too high-pitched for most people older than their mid-20s to hear however. However, because of the ease of turning the unit on and off, this has not kept me from loving the product.
Overall, I highly recommend this product. It is the best Wii Remote Charger I have found.

Had mine about a year now and works great but my only complaint is that you cannot purchase the batteries separately as they are special to the charger least as far as i know at this time.
