Everyone that installs remote starts should have a Bitwriter, hands down.Mar 24, 2011
By Nick V DEI makes the best products in remote starts and security. I don't know how i made due without the Bitwriter for so long, i should have bought it years ago. I use to use one when i worked in the Best Buy install bay and since that job i've probably installed a dozen remote start/security systems for friends and family and i'm SOOOOO glad i finally bought myself one. It's worth the $. It's cheap if you ask me, for what it can do for you. You can't take advantage of all the RS/Security features without it. Get one, you won't be sorry.

Item description showed this was version 2.7 which at the time of order was the newest version. The upgrade chip I received was version 2.2 which is not compatible with newer model systems.

This chip is not necessary for the new bitwriter if you buy one here on Amazon, as it comes pre installed. This is not worth the 5.00 shipping to return for a refund, so it will sit in my toolbox until somone needs one, eventhough dei will probably release a new 2.8 in a few months with the new systems.

It's an easy way to update without having to buy a new unit. Went right in no problems, powered it on and it's working great. I've already programmed a Clifford 50.5x and a 50.7x with it no problems.
