Great computer!Aug 16, 2011
By D. Masselink
First off - I ordered this on Monday afternoon - and it was delivered Tuesday morning!!
So far, after setting it up and burning the recovery discs, everything is working smoothly. I like Windows 7 - loading my enormous graphics packages was a snap.
Random thoughts: the box is HUGE - but I have plenty of space on my desk - and I've heard the larger boxes are less likely to overheat. It's probably as quiet (or noisy) as my old Compaq desk computer and my former laptops. The "on" and DVR buttons are large and easy to find.
Something new: the keyboard has "floating" keys. So far, very easy to type on - I'm just concerned how much dust and dog hair will build up under the keys? On the other hand, maybe this style of keyboard will be easier to keep clean? Time will tell.
There's a flat tray on top of the box, that's supposed to hold your "media" things as you download them; and there's 4 USB ports, plus a mic and speaker connection. This is probably really cool and a smart thing to do - but since I'm hardly a media whiz; I've put a piece of tape over these ports so they don't collect dust/dog hair. The only thing I download is photos - and the photo card slots are on the face of the box.
I'm REALLY happy with my purchase!!!
On edit - after 2 days of loading big graphics and mapping software programs: I LOVE this computer!! Have had no problems or glitches - Windows 7 makes everything nice and intuitive (and offers some cute features like the ability to plaster "yellow sticky notes" all over the desktop). I have always referred to myself as a "Speedbump on the Information Superhighway" - so for everything to have transferred, linked, moved...from my old computer to this new one without a single hiccup, really speaks volumes for how well-designed this is.

Hard to BeatSep 26, 2011
By R. Schrader
Purchased the Acer about 3 weeks ago for a small business application. So far its great. Was amazed when I downloaded MSOffice 10 Pro at how fast it it installed. I like the USB connections on the top of the machine. No more fumbling around the bottom as with my Dell. Power button is also conveniently placed along with DVD drawer controls. It was packaged well and came in a reasonable time frame from Amazon. Thus far I am pleased with this purchase. Feature wise very hard to beat for $500!

I needed a computer fast and I saw this one at an awesome price so I bought it. So far so very, very good! This thing replaced my 2003 Hp and man is it fast! The Aspire has tons of usb ports and the whole thing has been put together very neatly. The package arrived on time and in excellen condition. Set up was extremely simple too.

Love this computerJan 18, 2012
I have had this computer for about 6 months and I adore it! I use it every day for at least 7-9 hours, so it has been fully test-driven at this point. It is fast, reasonably quiet, has tons of storage, and has been very reliable so far. The quality you get here for a very budget-friendly price makes this an investment I haven't regretted one bit. Acer really hit the mark with this gem.

JUNK- only use would be as a boat anchor NO SUPPORT eitherFeb 21, 2012
By LT Bob
I would give this a zero star. if possible. The PC came DOA. ACER said to mail it to them with me paying shipping. I called Amazon and they had a replacement to me in 2 days!!! That was only the first problem. Card Reader stopped working, tried to purchase one and was told they can't sell to me!!! I removed the card reader and took to a local PC repair shop. They said ACER would not sell to them either!! So it looks like I'll just have to use an exteral card reader. I could not get a second monitor to work (was told it's an Intel problem) and if I wanted help I would have to pay for it!!! I finally made enough noise to where I did get help from a person in the US who did figure out what was wrong - can not use HDMI and VGA ports at the same time!!! A word of caution - there is no internal "exhaust" fan - I purchased one and installed myself as ACER said to mail to them to install!!! This of course voided my warranty. I've decided to dump this piece of Junk, get another (not ACER) and chalk the loss up to a learning experience.
