 More than just another carrying caseNov 29, 2008

This case is specifically designed for the Panasonic CF-52 Toughbook computer and fits it like a glove. It provides an additional layer of protection and the Toughbook need never be removed from the case while on the road. The Toughbook is held in place using the supplied Velcro® strips, while the screen is held by transparent plastic straps across the two top corners. The base and bottom of the case have plastic mesh vents which align perfectly with those on the Toughbook, and the bottom vent also holds the Toughbook half an inch above the bottom of the case, further protecting the Toughbook.
The pouch on the case could be improved if only it would expand farther. As it stands it will accommodate the power supply, a cable and a DVD or two, but then it is full. The Velcro® pouch fastener does not inspire confidence, particularly when the full case is placed in an overhead bin on an aircraft and then another passenger pushes his carry-ons in on top, opening the pouch. Unlike other cases, it has no handle, but as the Toughbook has its own built-in this is not a deficiency. A sturdy shoulder strap is included.
This case is excellent for use in conditions where a desk or table is unavailable. The case takes the scratches, not ones Toughbook. When set up as intended, the computer will not slide out of the case, which is fine except at the airport security checkpoint.

The main problem for us was lack of storage space for accessories. The one storage pouch was full after a few CDs and the power supply was put in it. If you don't need to carry anything else, that may not be a concern to you. However, there was also no room for any documents, and the pouch would not close when a full-size mouse was added. I also did not like that the case closes around the handle, leaving the notebook partially exposed. We ordered three and ended up returning them.
