 Check the adjustment - not the best design...May 20, 2012

Ordered this Weston 50# scale for weighing fish and checking drag on reels. Had my first opportunity to use it last week with a large catfish. After weighing the fish and noting the indicated weight of 35 pounds, it did not seem right. The next day we put a 40# dumbell on the scale and it indicated 31 pounds. I checked the dumbell on a digital bathroom scale and it indicated exactly 40.0 pounds. Not accurate - original rating of 1/5. UPDATE: found that the screw in sleve at the bottom of the scale must be adjusted. Once adjusted (unscrewed about half way), the scale was accurate. The screw in/out sleve is plastic and very loose and does not have a lock ring. Also, the peek weight indicater which is a sliding plastic piece below the indicator is so loose that it falls to the bottom of the scale when touched by the indicator. Worth about what I paid for it.

I needed this for some measurements at my job but it also worked great to weigh luggage for air trips and do other things. Good quality
