This is not a waster ... its a wooden toy.May 12, 2011
By David N. Lanyon I was curious as to how this would hold up as it is being sold as a 'waster'. It is not a waster, for child or adult. By terming it a waster, you are denoting it as able to hold up to sparring and kata work. I took this and one from another seller to my sword group. This one snapped on a simple bounce swing.
One of my teammates works with wood in a furniture shop and agreed with me about this being made from a cheap wood, not a good hard wood like maple or walnut. I also say this is not a toy for kids. The reason for this is the fact that when the blade snapped it left a nice sharp point which could easily injure.

GreatOct 25, 2010
By Garritios It is a great practice tool but I don't think it would hold up during sparing. Its great for single practice or low contact training with a friend.
My only complaints are that the black stripes on the handle are literally just electrical tape and there is a nail sticking out very slightly on the pommel (only enough for you to know it is there if you grab the pommel, which you won't need to).

dont buy make ur own!!!Apr 23, 2010
By Matthew M. Lenihan i bought one of these a while back and its a piece of junk poorly made falls apart if you decide to use it. and of course its ease of use is ranked its a pretty stick. so save you money and find a normal stick and carve your own.
Good costume swordJun 27, 2011
By Bubba I bought this sword to wear with a medieval costume. It is full size and looks quite nice. It is made of wood, but it is NOT strong enough to use in a practice sword fight. This sword is best used as a display or part of a costume. It is easy to modify and looks authentic if you paint it silver and wrap the handle in leather.
Wood sword - Not for real practiceSep 18, 2010
By Andreas Schneider This sword is a good sword to use at a renfest if you dont want a real one, but it is NOT a real practice sword. OK, if you practice without making contact, this sword will do fine. If you actally want to have contact this sword is not made to last.
