Kestrel 4250 Racing Weather TrackerOct 30, 2009
By Randle T. Bain If you tune by 'density altitude' or 'relative air density' this unit does the job. I am amazed at how many features are packed into this little unit. It does trending and has user programmable screens.
The unit is rugged but not indestructible. My original got sucked into a squirrel cage cooling fan on the dyno with predictable results. I sent it back to Kestrel thinking it was a goner. It was but Kestrel offered a great deal on a replacement unit.
Good repeatable data, solid customer service.

Great specs but flakySep 03, 2011
By positon We've been using this for our racing program for a couple years and have found it to have incredibly poor repeatability. For example, the temperature reading varies +7,-3 degrees at the same temperature: a 10 degree variation at the same temperature makes this thing worse than useless. Pressure and humidity are also just as screwed up. If it worked as great as it sounds, it would be wonderful. But unfortunately it just does not measure up - literally.
great tool for racingSep 03, 2011
