5Hot Answer from Crock-PotMar 01, 2011
By jkis101 "Janis"
I too thought it cooked too hot so wrote to company. The following is their reply:
"Both High and Low stabilize at the same temperature, it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. Once food reaches the simmer point, total cook time is dependent on cut and weight of meat to reach the point of maximum flavor and texture potential. (Most dishes can be prepared on either High or Low.) Typical cook time for Crock-Pot' slow cookers to reach simmer point (209'F):
Low: 7-8 to reach the simmer point
High: 3-4 hours to reach the simmer point"
It is hotter than my old one but it's a food safety issue. The dishes are coming out great. I find it the perfect size for my husband and me and can't beat the price!

53 Qt. Crock PotNov 09, 2010
By DML718
This lovely little gem is a perfect size for 2-4 servings. It has "Off, Low, High and Warm" settings. Many crock pots I read about before purchasing this one do not have the warm setting, which makes keeping your cooked items at the right temperature for your meal without the higher cooking heat that could possibly over-cook your meal if left on too long.

Have already made several meals with the crock pot (turkey carbonate, beef stew and baby back ribs). I noticed when the recipes called for cooking from 7-9 hours on low temperature, it only took 7 hours, so checking your food is important when you first start using a new crock pot.

Would definitely recommend this crock pot.

5Liking ItNov 16, 2010
By B. Davis "The Happy Hermit"
I've had a Rival brand Crock Pot for years and decided I needed another one so that I could keep more than one dinner item warm for when company comes. I choose the Crock Pot brand because my first one has served me well although the new Crock Pot does not say Rival on it anywhere so I guess they've sold the name. I saw this one and it had the keep warm setting and the price was so affordable I decided to try it and I'm very happy I did. The shape is lower and wider than my old one and the lid is glass as apposed to the plastic lid on the old one. I admit the new ones lid does not fit tightly (see update below). I really love the handles - they are open in the middle and easy to grip. And I can wrap the cord around and tuck the plug end into one of the handles for neat storing. Also love the stainless finish, it's very sleek and attractive. Update - the crock has small bumps around the top perimeter that hold the lid up off the rim a bit (like a couple of millimeters). This does allow moisture out. I only cook vegetables in my crockpots and if I use this new one I get a stew with little moisture. If I use my old crockpot where the lid sits securely on the rim of the crock I get more of a soup. So depending on what you are cooking this design may or may not suit. I'm wondering if a layer of foil between the crock and the lid would serve to keep moisture in, pressing down in the middle of the foil so steam that collects on the foil will fall into the food and not down the outside of the heating part. I still like this new crockpot and am glad I bought it.

1CheapAug 22, 2011

I was trying to replace what I thought was an identical one. I ignored a couple of the comments because of that, and wish I wouldn't have because they were right on. Overall, it seems very cheaply made. Lid seems a size too small, and rattles incessantly. The base has 3 bumps that make it unstable. I'm in the process of sending this puppy back! Next one I buy will be off the shelf somewhere so I can evaluate the quality and avoid the hassle of having to rebox and send.

5Very pleased...Feb 08, 2011
By John N. Fulmore "Idaho John"
This product has been a pleasant surprise. There are features that I have found useful: the warm setting - has allowed me the option of keeping food at serving temperature and minimizing the chance of over cooking - something that I have a problem with as I am a bit forgetful, the stainless steel covering is easy (in my case, easier) to keep clean and the lid on this purchase is glass and fits. I am a single man and the size (3 quart) is just about right for me to make a stew or a roast and have lunch for the coming week ready by sunday evening. I have owned several crock-pots over the years and this one is my favorite...the right size, easy to clean and settings that allow me to cook...and avoid...over cooking. Highly recommended.
