5Very sturdy, very heavy!May 06, 2014
*This is the version with the padded dividers, not the foam bottom.*

If you're looking for lightweight protection to lug your camera gear around with you, this is not the case you're looking for! Go get a backpack.

I picked this case up primarily to take on a rafting trip in the Grand Canyon and I really wanted to make sure my gear didn't get wet as we headed down river.

The case itself is over 6lbs empty, so as you start packing in camera, lenses, accessories, etc it gets heavy. Mine is about 15lbs loaded

On to the case itself. The tan color is pretty pleasing and tacticool looking. Definitely sets itself apart from your standard black cases out there. It's small enough to be my second carry on item and will fit in an overhead. I managed to cram a number of things in there:

1. Canon 60D
2. 70-200 F4 IS L
3. 28mm
4. GoPro with chargers, batteries, and other accessories
5. Canon charger, batteries, remote, etc
6. Camera strap, SpiderHolster
7. Hoods for both lenses
8. Speedlight flash with diffuser

...and there's still some room to cram more junk in there.

Now the only real criticism is the weight of all that gear and the case makes it feel like I'm ready to do kettle bells at the gym. What the case lacks is any real option for shoulder strap carry. That said, there are two lock holes for padlocks which could double as potential carry points for a strap.

I'm going to try the Eagle Creek clip on strap to see if it solves that problem. Right now it's only $11, so it's cheap enough to experiment with.

All said, this case is really well made and incredibly sturdy. It'll make a nice chair when you're in a pinch, and will keep my goodies dry when they are supposed to.

5Like a portable safeAug 01, 2011

I bought this for my trip to Europe. I had just gotten a new DSLR and 3 lenses for Christmas and was going to Europe a few months later. I wasn't about to put my camera in a suitcase and hope for the best from the airlines. This case was small enough to be considered carry on so I went for it. I got the case that has the velcro dividers so that I could divide up the case according to the equipment I had. I think that's a little extra than the cutout foam, but I think it is well worth the upgrade. Instead of cutting out the foam and being stuck with that if equipment changes, I can change the configuration at any time to match my needs. This thing was like a safe. I took it on planes, trains, buses and never once worried about my camera or my lenses. I even used it to hold some of my documents and my chargers. Great product, great price. If you're at all concerned about protecting your photography investment while traveling, this is the case for you.

5Very ruggedMar 20, 2014

I'm very happy with this. It's a bit heavy but not too bad.
I can get a Nikon D5200, Flash, 3 lenses including a 300mm
zoom, and lots of accessories in this. The padded dividers are great
since you can re-arrange things as you wish and as you buy
new lenses. Comes with quite a few (8?) dividers so you can
make all kinds of small compartments plus a couple of longer
dividers to make a pouch for the camera and attached lens.

5Solid constructionDec 31, 2013

I originally bought the 1450 but had to return it since it was small for my gear. The 1504 accommodates my 5DMkIII, 70-200mm, 16-35mm and G12 with plenty of room left when I add a 24-70mm and a flash unit. The construction is solid and ample padding to ensure the equipment does not shift during transport. Highly recommended and worth the money given the value of the equipment it protects.

5Tough CaseSep 27, 2011

This is my third Pelican case. This case works well with two full size SLR cameras. I purchased the velcro inserts the last time and it worked better than the foam insert. I have droped these cases several times and have never had the items inside damaged.
