4Great Deal - but does affect the soundDec 05, 2010
By AllenC3
I bought three of these Pyle Pro units for live recording. They allow me to connect the mixer directly to a bass, a guitar and a keyboard while recording live bands. This provides sound isolation in a loud live environment. Plug the guitar pickup output into the DI box 1/4 inch input and plug the output 1/4 inch into the guitar amp. Then plug the DI box XLR output into your mixer or PA input. If recording only with no amp, simply don't use the 1/4 inch output.

They work well but like all passive DI boxes, they do affect the frequency response of the signal. This is most noticeable on a bass guitar or upright. There is a loss of lower frequencies and a loss of volume. If this cannot be tolerated, then use an active DI box. These passive DI boxes have a 50K ohm input impedance, where an active DI box would be more like 5Meg ohm which will have no effect on the signal.

The Pyle DI box is a well built steel case unit. I opened one up and it looks good, not commercial grade but what do you want for $8?

5Amazing DealJan 30, 2010
By Chris Caudill "Chrizzle"
When I bought this direct box the price was only $8! It's since gone up to $11, but that's still a phenomenal value for a decent piece of gear. I've been using two of these to turn a 1/4" unbalanced (guitar) signal into a balanced (XLR) signal in order to run the cable about 50 feet without introducing noise into the signal path, and it works like a champ. The box doesn't color the sound much at all.

I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to pick up a decent D.I. at a phenomenal price.

5Quick, easy and inexpensive solutionJun 14, 2010
By Mike 32159
The PDC21 works great. I use it to interface between my mp3 player (or CD player or PC) and venues that have XLR microphone jacks. While a straight 1/8" to XLR cable often works, sometimes these XLR jacks have +50vdc on them which as blown a previous mp3 player. The PDC21 removes this voltage and removes 60Hz hum that can come about with a direct wire connection.

5Pyle-Pro PDC21 DI BoxMar 04, 2010
By W. Olson "Mild Hypermiler"
This box works excellent - even for the low price.
I have used it in Concerts to connect Acoustic-Electric Guitars to the PA.
I have also used it (in conjunction with 1/4" to RCA adapters) to interface between a DVD player and the PA system where a ground lift was required.
I've also used it in reverse to connect the PA system to a camcorder so the camcorder got its sound directly for the system.
Use a coupler to convert the Male XLR to Female, connect the line level PA output to it. Then use a stereo RCA to 3.5mm mini plug to connect to the Camcorder mic input.

5Great little Direct BoxJul 09, 2011

Purchased 2 of these. One for laptop, one for keyboard. Both had been hooked into system with simple matching transformers but we were getting a lot of noise. Installed these, switched ground loop to off, and noise is gone! Worlds better than matching transformer for very little more $. Should probably have a couple of spares. Try these before spending mega bucks on "noise removers" and other stuff that's out there.

You really should have a D.I. on every source that is not a microphone. (Electric keyboard, guitar, computer, etc.) If the bass guitar player's amp suddenly croaks and feeds gobs of current down the line, a D.I. box protects your expensive mixer board and components.

Good box, low price. Hard to beat!
