 Good overall but has quite a few bugsDec 17, 2011

Downloaded the latest version updates. The software seems to run a bit more stable. There's still no Help function on the menu and the user manual on the web site is still an old version dated Oct, 2010.
This product was packed with a full load of functions. Some of them are quite useful while others are primitives. The most useful ones are the DVD copying and conversion functions which is great for transferring my collection of DVDs to my portable devices. I also found a few surprisingly nice features which I would mentioned in the following :
Installation
The installation process is pretty straight-forward. The program also gives us an option to download the latest updates from the support website. It also takes us to a 3rd party website which provides a plug-in for archiving copy-protected DVDs. This plug-in works very well on my own existing set of DVD collections. However, if you do not install this plug-in and try to copy / convert a copy-protected media, the program will terminate without telling you why. I had to contact support in order to figure this out.
Video Menu
- Copy Bluray or DVD Videos.
- Download Internet Videos : allows you to search videos on the internet such as youtube, facebook, and Google by entering a search phrase.
- Video Conversion : convert video files, DVD, or Bluray video into many type of file formats (eg Android, iPhone, iPad, and many other popular tablets and devices). It took about 30 min to convert a 2 hours DVD video. This is the best feature BTW.
- Video compilation : creates video, DVD, or Bluray compilation by adding files to a list. It also provides options to burn to a Bluray or DVD disc.
- Video editor : for editing video files. The functions are very primitive. I would suggest to stick to your existing favorite video editor.
- Managing Video Streaming : a nice feature. Allows you to stream media files from your PC to portable devices such as iPhone and Android tablets. The video streaming seems pretty smooth.
Audio Menu
- Copy / Create audio CD
- Rips audio CDs into mp3 files
- Edit audio files
- Extract audio from video files
- Convert audio files into mp3, m4a (apple), aac (advanced audio coding), flac (lossless audio coding), ogg, wav, and wma formats.
- Creates ring tones for your phone
Photo menu
The features are also quite primitive. Again, I would stick to my own favorite photo editor
- Edit, enhance photo
- Creates panorama
- Capture snapshots from DVD, Bluray, or video
- Creates slideshow
Setting menu
- Set up destination folder location for video / audio outputs. I found another bug which the program would hang if you have certain brand of security USB thumb drives attached to the PC.
Help option and Product support
- There is NO help option on the software and you would need to go to the setting menu to reach the support website and knowledge database.
- Lack of user manual. The one located on the website is for the 2011 version which does not mention about the video stream and 3D creation features. The support folks said a new version would be made available soon.
- There is no mentioning of how to get to the website for streaming your files. (hint : it is stream.123copydvd dot com).
- To my surprise, the support was not bad as I was able to receive email reply within 1 day and got live chatting support with people knowledgeable enough to solve my issues.
Overall, I found pretty good use of this software for transferring my DVD library to portable devices and hard drives. The streaming feature is pretty neat for accessing the media file on my PC away from home. I still have not been able to create a 3D video yet (the output file is not viewable). These bugs could be very annoying for those who are not hands-on with PC. If they could fix all the bugs and provide a well documented user manual, I would give it a higher rating.

123 Copy DVD Platinum - 2012 has both positive and negative feedback. They offer a fully featured 6 or 7 day trial, so see if it actually works on your computer before buying. Many features worked, but it never burned a fully usable copy of any of my new release DVD movies. The copies looked good, played about 85% or more through the movie, then froze, creating unusable backups. I tried to play the copies on 2 different stand alone TV type DVD players (one old, one new), and the DVD players on my computer, and they all froze. I used 2 different name brand DVD manufactures, and DVD+R along with DVD-R. I also downloaded the suggested 3rd party software. There are no help files, and it's been 5 days since I emailed customer support - they have not responded. I gave it an extra star for the handy additional features, and eventually they'll fix the bugs...

Bought the Gold version first and it worked like a charm. Decided to give this product a try since I also have several blu ray movies to copy / convert to ipod. Installation was straight forward, and included the Buoya file that would let you "back up" copyrighted movies. With the gold version, the Itunes screen would automatically come out after you convert the movie to Ipod format and the converted movie would be in the playlist. Sadly, this wasn't the case with the Platinum - the movie never gets added to the playlist. I also tried copying my blu-ray movies to my portable hard drive but it just won't play on my Smart TV. Maybe the 2013 version would work......

program works great the license can only be registered on two computers found out the hard way when I had to replace the hard drive on my desktop. waiting to here back from company to reset my account.

I have used many DVD copy programs over the years and this is by far the worst. It takes twice as long as any other program and has a 60+ % failure rate. I have tried it with XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 consumer preview. I have been in the Video field for years and a computer Tech since the early 1980's. Don't waste your money on this SW.
